About Richard

Twenty years in Japan. Permanent residency. I arrived with no network and no Japanese and built a business from zero, eleven of those years in Kobe.

Now I'm based in Düsseldorf, Germany's hub for Japanese business, bridging Japan and Europe for companies who need more than a translator. They need someone who understands both sides deeply enough to make things happen.

I do the unglamorous work. Reading, mapping, verifying, following the trail until it closes. Exhaustive forensic research is my happy place, and I do it in four languages: English, Japanese, German and French.

I don't network. I connect. And I don't just open doors. I pull people through them.

Away from client work I'm European Correspondent for MICE TIMES ONLINE and Japan Ambassador for the International FOXP1 Foundation, coordinating rare disease research relationships across three continents.
